Issue Description
Setting up the Vendor Kiosk is incredibly easy needing an iPad and for it to be connected to the proper store Wi-Fi network and can reach the Balena Baseline Server. Once setup, this will allow features like Baseline Vends to work at their best where check-ins will automatically show up in the Vends page and the vendor will be added to Patch.
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Please follow these instructions for getting the Vendor kiosk setup at a store:
- With an iPad, launch the Safari web browser
- In the address bar of the Safari web browser, navigate to the following urls,
- If Uptown Cheapskate, http://192.168.1.151:8080/kiosk
- If Kid to Kid, http://192.168.1.51:8080/kiosk
- If Balena Server, http://storeConcept-storeName.local/kiosk
- e.g. If Uptown Cheapskate, http://uc-arlington.local/kiosk
- e.g. If Kid to Kid, http://k2-ahwatukee.local/kiosk
- At this point, the iPad should be setup to the Vendor kiosk page. Feel free to test a check-in to verify it is working.
- An additional step to take would include to find the box with an arrow pointing up on the browser page, and searching the drop down for "Add to Home Screen"
- Another additional step, one can find the Box with Lines on the left hand side of the address bar, select it, and choose the Three Dots then press "Hide Tool Bar"
- As a final additional step, one can go into the iPad's "Settings -> Accessibility" and enable "Guided Access" to set the iPad to only have access to the browser and lock out the other iPad features. Set a pin code that would be easy to remember like 123456. Then in the Safari browser at the kiosk page, hit the home button or side button 3 times (depending on iPad model) to engage Guided Access. It can be disabled by pressing the home button or side button 3 times and entering the pin code.
- If one forgot the Guided Access pin code, one can restart the iPad and break out of guided access one of the following two ways, (Apple Guide)
- If there is a home button, press the side power button and the home button until the Apple logo appears
- If there is no home button, press the volume up button, then the volume down button, then press and hold the side power button until the Apple logo appears.
- If one forgot the Guided Access pin code, one can restart the iPad and break out of guided access one of the following two ways, (Apple Guide)
