Rack Health Overview

Created by Samantha Shurtleff, Modified on Tue, 3 Mar at 10:26 AM by Jack Borowski

Rack Health is a feature within Baseline that helps stores understand how full their racks are based on:

  • Items sold

  • Items purchased from vendors (vends)

Rack Health identifies which sections of your store need replenishment, and how urgently they need it.

Rack Health works directly with Backstock to guide teams on which bins to pull to replenish the sales floor.

How Rack Health Works

Rack Health measures inventory performance by comparing:

Items Sold - Items Purchased (based on replenish method)

This calculation determines:

  • How many items are missing

  • How many bins are needed

  • The urgency of replenishment

When bins are pulled and sections are replenished, Rack Health updates.

Step-by-Step Guide

Step 1: Viewing and Understanding Rack Health

Rack Health is organized by Sections.

A section represents a portion of your sales floor and corresponds to how inventory is physically organized. Sections are made up of category and attribute combinations and have been standardized by the Operations team.

The columns on Rack Health are:

  • Name: The name of the section

  • Status: Indicates the urgency of replenishment

    • UC:

      • Good = Less than 1 bin needed

      • Low = 1 bin needed

      • Priority = 2+ bins needed

    • K2K

      • Good = Less than 16 items missing

      • Low = 16+ items missing

      • Priority = 1+ bins needed

  • Items Missing: Represents how much inventory needs to be replaced to maintain full racks.

  • Bins Needed: The number of bins required to replenish the section.

    • This is calculated using:

      • Items Missing

      • Average Items Per Bin (configured in Edit mode)

  • Replenish Method: Determines how inventory for this section should flow

    • Straight to Floor: Items are tagged and hung directly on the floor

    • Backstock: Items are placed in backstock bins before being pulled to the floor

    • This setting directly impacts how Rack health calculates missing inventory

  • Replenish: Click Replenish to restock a section

  • Bin Count: Number of closed binsin Backstock that correspond to this section

Step 2: Managing Rack Health Settings

Active/Inactive Sections

  • Active Sections are displayed on Rack Health

  • Incative Sections are hidden from view

In “Edit Mode” use the toggle to manage the display of sections

Average Items Per Bin

  • Current numbers are based off of averages from 17 gallon totes

  • Edit these to adjust the average items per bin based off of your bin sizes

If this number is inaccurate, bin recommendations will be inaccurate.

Replenish Method

Select whether items in that section go:

  • Straight to Floor

  • To Backstock

This determines how sold vs purchased items are interpreted
